Week Four in New York City: #Midterm

Last week was insanely busy, what with an event to cover on Monday, the writeup due the following day and my midterm review anticipated for Thursday. In order to rest up for work, after grabbing a quick bite at the dinning hall, I spent most of my evenings in bed with my beloved partner that has yet to fail me, Netflix – aside from that time they figured out I was cheating on them with their French twin via VPN, but those days are long gone.

I kept procrastinating about publishing my weekly blog post, as you will see if you watch my Instagram Story recap, because I care about my sleep cycle. Sorry, not sorry.

Monday

My Monday was great, chiefly due to the fact that I was able to interview Demi Moore and compliment her dark floral ensemble at the “Blind” movie premiere without succumbing to my palpitating heart. I’m getting much more comfortable covering red carpets and interviewing celebrities.

Though it was Michael Mailer’s first time directing, the movie was well executed. The acting was undoubtedly impressive, considering the lead roles were filled by Demi Moore, Alec Baldwin and Dylan McDermott. I have nothing but good to say about everyone but Alec Baldwin, which didn’t necessarily come as a surprise after seeing how he’s treated the media before.

The after party would have likely not have been particularly interesting had I not met Michael Mailer’s adorable summer intern, Lucie Jadow.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, I did the writeup for the “Blind” movie premiere, transcribed an interview for my editor and curated a gallery, which you can view by heading to my “Read Me” page.

Wednesday

Wednesday was another day at the office.

On my way home, however, I noticed smoke coming from a building near mine. The smoke spanned three blocks, and it took about an hour and a half to get under control. Thankfully it did not spread, but they have temporarily closed down my late-night, drunken, go-to pizza place while they do the cleanup.

What is it with New York City and things catching fire? First the taxi, and now this?

Thursday

On the last day of my work week, I had my midterm review, which I am thrilled to say was very positive, reassuring and encouraging.

I have truly loved my experience working for Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) and Penske Media Corporation (PMC) thus far. I cannot believe I am halfway through my internship! It has gone by so quickly. The second half of my term with WWD is likely to be just as exciting, and I am currently working on an exiting feature, so please keep your fingers crossed for me that it all works out and keep checking back!

I appreciate all the support I have been receiving from all my friends, fellow journalists and the people that simply like my blog. Living in the big apple is not always peachy, which is likely why they don’t call it “the big peach,” but all of your support has made it that much easier.

I have already learned so much,  and I am insanely thankful to all the people that have made this experience possible – from my editors to my friends and family.

Catch you next week!
